Summer was amazing, so many memories, so many changes. Even though I dreaded it coming to an end, I am ready to start the new year and see what changes are going to happen. It is my second weekend here and I have finally gotten all the pictures on the walls, my clothes put away, and my room is already messily organized. I think I have finally gotten into a groove with classes, work, and friends. My classes this semester seem like they are going to be good, some will be tougher than others. Over the summer I started working at Barnes and Noble Cafe and I work at least 20hours a week. So I have definitely have a crazy schedule, but nothing I can't handle! I hope all of you had a blessed summer and I can't wait to continue blogging about my amazing experiences here at Milligan.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Wow, what a crazy couple of weeks it has been! First of all the weather has been gorgeous. I have been doing a lot of hiking around the area. On the Milligan website they offer a lot of good places to go hiking! Definitely take advantage of that! The school year is winding down...it seems like I have all of these tests all of a sudden and papers due. It feels like I have do not have enough time in the day to get everything done. I'll make it though. My roommate and I signed up for our room next year! We are going to be living on first floor! Oh yeah! I'm really excited for next year! Dr. Thomas talked about the 2009 European trip in Humanities the other day! I was so excited and I am definitely going to have to work hard to raise the money. It is such a great opportunity and I can't pass it up. If you are able to, you should try to go too! Well I have to get back to class, but have a blessed week!

Friday, April 04, 2008

Wow! What a crazy past two weeks it has been. I want to apologize for missing last week..sorry! It feels like the past two weeks have been a blur of school work, projects, work, and crazy stuff! I finished my Acts Project in New Testament and I actually think it turned out alright. I've been working on my mosaic for Humanities and it's hard! I have really enjoyed trying something new though. Tomorrow, I'm taking a mini-break and traveling to Raleigh with a friend to see my sister and her family! I'm excited! It will be a good break before I have to come back and get down to the nitty-gritty. This is the home stretch of my freshman year and it's flying by. I can't believe this year is already almost over! Well I have some homework to finish, so have a wonderful weekend!

Sunday, March 23, 2008

Happy Easter everyone! This week has been amazing and I am so happy it is Easter. This is one of my favorite holidays. I have been on break since Friday and I am off Monday too...it has been a nice weekend to catch up on homework, hangout with out of town friends, and relax. Some of my high-school friends were in town and we drove up to Blowing Rock, North Carolina and went shopping!! It was so much fun. Milligan has been great. I got my Humanities test back and I got an A!!! Yay! I was so excited. The whole campus is playing a paranoia game called Gotcha. Each person gets assigned another person and you have to "shoot" them with water to get them out. Once you get them out, you get the person they were assigned to. Eventually everyone "shoots" each other and there are only two people left. It was really scary to walk outside because you never knew who was after you. I got out the third day, but I was pretty proud of myself making it that far! It has been interesting to watch people run to classes and dodge people. I can't wait to play next year! Well I better go to church, have a happy Blessed Easter!

Friday, March 14, 2008

Hey! I finished my second Humanities exam!!! I think I did alright on it...I will know when I get the test back. I also had a test in my night class, Ethnic and Cultural Geography, and once again it was as easy as pie! This week has been pretty stressful and I ready for a relaxing weekend. I studied hard, worked longer hours at TCBY, and was constantly busy. I guess that is what happens the week after Spring Break. The rest of my break was amazing. I went to Asheville on Saturday and saw the amazing BILTMORE. That house is gorgeous and huge! When you and your parents come up to Milligan, you really need to drive over to Asheville and check it out. It is so worth it. I know I have learned stuff in Humanities because I was able to point out many things in the architecture and art. (I'm a dork...I know!) It was great to see all my buddies again...I missed them. What am I going to do this summer????? These people are my family and I love them all so much! Well I'm going running and then working on homework. Have an amazing night and weekend!e

Thursday, March 06, 2008

God is an AMAZING artist. Really, he is. Over my spring break I got to make a trip down to Raleigh, North Carolina! On my way there I drove over the snow covered mountains and was once again absolutely amazed at what God can do. Once in Raleigh, I stayed with my very pregnant sister, my brother-in-law, and my adorable little nephew! It was a great few days of hanging-out, napping, and of course...shopping! Now I am back at home, dreading going to work in a few minutes and delaying the homework...oops! Spring Break 2008 has been pretty amazing so far and I still have 3 days left!

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

I woke up this morning to a goregous blanket of snow on the ground. Yup, East Tennessee finally got some snow 3 days before March. That is Tennessee for you. It was beautiful though, and melting by 12pm. Let me tell you about my crazy night last night.....and it was crazy. My friend and adopted brother (yup, when you don't have your family here, you adopt), Brian called me last night around 10:30 really, really sick. So my roommate, Allison and I threw on some clothes and went and picked him up and took him to the lovely Sycamore Sholes Emergency Room. After we waited in the waiting room for about an hour and half, Brain was finally put in a Triage Room. We then waited for another hour or two and finally a doctor saw him..and then he had to get an IV and some medicanes. So finally at about 4:30am this morning we were allowed to leave. So I crawled into bed at about 5am this morning, woke up at 7am (thinking I was going to my 8 o'clock), took a shower, could barely hold my eyes open, and crawled back into bed. Luckily I woke up for New Testament at 10 o'clock and now I'm trying to keep my eyes open long enough to make it through Humanities. So yup, that is my crazy night and luckily Brian is feeling 1,000 times better. I am greatly looking forward to my warm, snuggly bed and if I don't completely pass out in Humanities, I will post again soon!

Friday, February 22, 2008

Wow, this week has been crazy! First of all, everyone around here as been getting sick. I've had a cold of some sort and it has really drug me down this past week...but I have had friends to help take care of me! When you move into the dorms...find a mom away from mom! It is always nice to have one of those because they bring you medicine, hot tea, and tissues! If you can't have your mom there, then a mom away from mom is the next best thing. I got my Humanities test back, and...drum roll please....I got an A!!!!! I was soooo excited! All that studying paid off! I also got another test back and I did really well on that one too! This semester I have really started to buckle down and already it is paying off. Staying organized and doing assignments on time is a great way to keeping good grades. The last home basketball games were this week and unfortunately I had to miss them because of work. Luckily we won both! Go Buffs! It stinks when I have to work because I miss out on some of the fun things that go on around here. Lately I have been thinking about how much I love Milligan. It is an amazing school and I can't imagine ever leaving it. I know that sounds corny, but over the past semester I have made some amazing connections and been blessed with so many things. God is well, GREAT!

Thursday, February 14, 2008

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope everyone has had a wonderful day, single or taken! This week has been crazy. The weekend was spent studying for our first Humanities test on Tuesday. That studying was well worth it because the test (to me) was a breeze! I was pretty relieved after I left the classroom. I did not have my Elementary Math for Teachers class this week because my professor's mother-in-law passed away. Him and his family have been in the Milligan community prayers. If something happens here, Milligan sends out an email to let the student body know. It really connects you with the rest of your community. Today, I got to observe a 2nd Grade class for my Introduction to Education class. It was so much fun and I am really looking forward to the next 10 weeks with this class! The kids are precious and gave me some Valentine's! But my week has been good so far and I hope yours has been blessed. Even if you are single, spend Valentine's Day with some friends. Surrounding yourself with people you love is just as amazing! I am going to spend it with family and eat some good food!

Thursday, February 07, 2008

Wow! What an amazing week this has been! I have had two tests, and one more today...yeah, your probably thinking how can it be amazing? But it has been. My first test was in New Testament and it was actually okay. My other test was in Cultural and Ethnic Geography and it was sooooooo Easy! Today's test is in Elementary Math for Teachers (and yes it is kinda hard). I am a little nervous about it.. Hopefully I will do okay. Why was my week so amazing? Maybe it started out with the Giants winning! The rest of it...I'm not really sure. There have been some gorgeous, warm days here and then downpour days too. I love rain and I love sun. So that had definitely made me happy. It is amazing how little things can make me smile. Lent started yesterday and this year I am giving up a bunch of unhealthy foods. I am also taking up a daily devotion this year too. The devotion is from My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers. I am really looking forward to getting into it. Well I hope everyone's week has been as amazing as mine. Have a blessed weekend!
